Midwives

As a qualified midwife, you have a wide range of opportunities open to you.

You will begin your career as a Band 5 Midwife on the preceptorship programme, which will involve you being a junior midwife with professional development colleagues supporting you to complete your required objectives before becoming a fully qualified Band 6 Midwife.

Once fully qualified, for five years, you will be given the opportunity to choose a ‘preferred place of work’ – you may want to undertake further training and become a specialist, move into management, teaching, or clinical research.
