Medicines management pharmacy technician (AfC Band 4-5)
Medicines Management (MM) technicians are responsible for the safe, efficient, and effective supply of medicines across our hospital wards, dispensary, and technical services. MM technicians also provide services in primary care, working with GP practices and other care settings. They consult with patients and healthcare colleagues, working alongside pharmacists to ensure seamless transitions in care and ensure safe, effective medicines use in the hospital and community.
MM technicians undertake medication history, lead teams in the management of discharge prescriptions and are responsible for the management and supply of dispensed medicines. Within aseptics, they are also responsible for aseptically prepared medicines and product release. A more advanced MM technician (AfC 5) will typically have undertaken further accreditation and training to extend their pharmaceutical knowledge and skills and undertake leadership, management, or research activity.
