Healthcare scientists

Healthcare scientists play a vital role in the NHS, they help prevent, diagnose and treat illness using their knowledge of science and their technical skills. Their role stretches across the whole innovation pathway from academic research to patient- centred service transformation. Some healthcare scientists have direct contact with patients whilst others are based in laboratories and may not interact directly with patients. Healthcare scientists are integral to the multi-disciplinary healthcare team and collectively they contribute to 80% of all diagnosis and treatment.
